I have been working in the mental health field in various settings for nearly 25 years. For the large majority of those years, I have been hoping to make this idea a reality. I am excited to finally be doing so. If you are looking for a conventional approach to therapy/counseling, I can provide that. If you are interested in trying something with an unconventional twist, I have that to offer as well. The foundation of my work utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy principles to address social, emotional and existential struggles and build healthy perspectives and skills. By integrating basic golf instruction and the many lessons of the game, I feel I have a great approach to help people in a different way. Golf is a sport that has a lot of meaning to me and has a great many virtues at its core. But the best thing is it provides a great metaphor for life and the many challenges, struggles, and joys that are part of it. My primary focus is to help people to navigate the struggles of life and establish healthy mental and emotional well being through solid clinical counseling. If I can make you a better golfer along the way (or even just teach some basics), bonus!
Like golf, I feel my approach may not be for everybody, but it could be for anybody. I have experience working with a variety of ages, populations, and presenting concerns. I would love to set up a brief consultation to discuss if this could be a good fit for you.
